Anysphere’s Cursor Is Expanding Horizons
AI Coding Agents is Now Accessible via Web and Mobile
As reported by Win Buzzer, Anysphere, the company behind the growing AI-Powered Coding editor Cursor, has just launched a new web application. This application allows developers to manage autonomous coding agents easily and directly through their browsers. This move has made it more convenient for the developers as it helps them use Cursor beyond its integrated development environment (IDE). This strategic move makes AI-assisted coding more accessible and versatile at the same time.
Cursor’s Evolution
Initially, in the beginning stages Cursor functioned as an AI-enhanced IDE. It assisted in streamlining code generation and debugging tasks. And now it has evolved from IDE to web! How convenient!
Now, let’s talk about it’s recent developments. In the month of May, 2025, Anysphere introduced background agents. What exactly are background agents, you may ask? Background agents are AI systems that help in handling coding tasks. What’s so special about that? Well…. they do it in autonomously, that means they do all of it without any sort of supervision.
Then in June, 2025 the Changelog of Cursor reported that Slack saw the integration of these agents. What did it do? It allowed users to assign tasks by simply tagging @Cursor in conversations. Yes, that’s right it became that simple and easy.
The latest development has to be the launch of a web app. It provides the users a platform to interact with the background agents, via natural language commands from their browsers. Tasks can be actually delegated to the AI agents remotely. Tasks such as writing new features or fixing bugs. And the users can supervise and monitor the process.

A New Paradigm
On 12th June, 2025, Cursor reported that the background agents operated in isolated environments and executed their tasks independently. We know the purpose of AI is to make our life easier and take away the load of routine tasks. That’s exactly what the aim is here too. With the autonomy that the agents have, it has allowed developers to focus on more crucial aspects of their projects, while AI does the routine tasks.
Okay so what happens when the AI agent encounters something that it doesn’t understand or isn’t capable of doing? Well, the AI agents provide a unique, shareable link, that facilitates collaboration among team members. So, in case an AI agent comes across a task that is beyond it’s capabilities, a developer can easily transition into the IDE to take over. This ensures there’s no stoppage of work and efficiency is maintained in the development process.
The AI Tool Everyone’s Using (and Loving)
This strategic move of Anysphere has not gone unnoticed. The company has recently reported that it has exceeded $500 million in annualized recurring revenue (ARR). The cherry on top, Cursor has been utilized by half of the fortune 500 companies. And this includes industry giants such as NVIDIA, Uber, and Adobe.
Additionally, to cater it’s growing user base, Anysphere has launched a pro tier. At a rate of $200-per-month, it offers advanced features and capabilities. Who is it for? It’s mostly for professional developers and large teams.
Where AI and Coding Are Headed Next
The integration of AI into web and mobile platform actually marks as a pivotal step. As it is aiming towards a more flexible and efficient software development landscape. Cursor is re-defining boundaries of coding workflows by enabling background agents to take up the delegated tasks of the developers.
