How to actually structure your Claude SEO workflow (so it doesn’t fail)

Truth bomb: you can have the best prompts in the world, but if your workflow is terrible – you’re still gonna waste time.

Over time I have seen a lot of teams making the same mistake of asking Claude one question, they get an answer and just move on. If that’s your idea of ‘saving time using AI’, then you are wasting more time than saving. It is only when you feed the context to Claude in a direct manner – it will work best.

    1. Start with keyword research
    2. Feed those findings in your content brief prompt
    3. Then use the brief to audit your current ranking
    4. Just repurpose whatever works

That’s called a workflow and that’s the way you move rankings on the web.

    Save your good prompts

It’s much simpler than it sounds. Just create a template document with your top prompts which are customized for specific outputs. Next time when you want to research or create something in the same domain, you can just copy paste the prompt, fill in the current problem variables and voila!

Most people doing prompting regularly regenerate the same prompt over and over, which is honestly a waste of energy.

    Claude is not great at…

Claude is not great at writing first draft content. How can it be? Your first draft has your voice, your way of delivering information, and your insights. Another thing it is not good at is fact checking without you verifying. Humans in the loop is always the best way to incorporate AI in your workflow.

Claude is great at strategy, analysis, and frameworks. Which is amazing because what Claude is not great at, it makes up with your human creativity. And that is the whole point of this secret weapon. Use it as a tool that amplifies your decisions instead of replacing them.

One thing you might have noticed in the prompts above, is that I have mentioned outbound links a bunch of times in these prompts. To understand what outbound links are, go through this guide quickly by SEMrush. I have observed that most articles have zero outbound links, or weak ones. Huge mistake.

True reflection of what Google’s algo actually sees when you use an outbound link: you’re a real writer who is doing real research. You’re not just trying to manipulate your own rankings.
That builds trust signals. Because when you’re linking to relevant authority your content becomes more trustworthy.

But you also have to be strategic about it.

    • Don’t link to direct competitors unless you’re comparing.
    • Do link to industry research, original data, studies, and authoritative resources.
    • When you’re writing about trends or news, link to the source like  real experts.

In 2026, outbound links are part of your SEO strategy and there’s no doubt about it, because Google’s E-E-A-T framework cares about whether you’re citing authoritative sources.

Use 3-5 outbound links/1000 words. Integrate the links in the article naturally. And if you use Claude to identify outbound linking opportunities, like in prompt #10 above – you’re way ahead in the SEO game.

Real talk: Why these prompts work

Before anybody comes at me for ‘replacing’ my SEO team – it did not. But it sure did eliminated the busywork that used to take up almost 10 hours in a week. I tested prompts, showed it examples, tweaked them a lot and finally was left with these amazing prompts that now save so much of my time.

One more thing, the prompt list above works best with Claude and not ChatGPT or Gemini because Claude is actually good at analysis and understanding nuances. So for writing that too with SEO optimisation, Claude understands intent perfectly and has insane pattern matching skills for your drafts.

If you’re still not convinced about using AI in SEO, then you’re really lagging behind. Your competitors, your juniors are already using it, so the real question you should ask yourself is “How do I use AI in SEO better than my competitors?”

So, test these prompts, tweak them and add your own context. The prompts that work the best are the ones you customize for your specific situation, niche, and what actually matters for your business/service.

Because at the end of the day, SEO is still about solving problems for real people. AI just helps you do it faster.
