Additionally, the country has a multilingual population who are waiting for advanced tech that speaks their language. That’s why companies like Google, Perplexity and ChatGPT offered free AI subscriptions. The goal? To build trust, gain loyalty and thereby lock in millions of paying customers. In this article, we’ll dive into the 3 major players who offered premium access to AI subscriptions. I’m sure you would have heard the partnerships and offers by now- Jio has partnered with Google, Perplexity with Airtel and OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Go. Let’s find out which offers are still live and which is actually the best.

Update (October 2026): Jio’s Google AI Pro offer is still available and is now open to all Jio users aged 18+. Airtel’s Perplexity Pro promo has ended, and OpenAI’s free ChatGPT Go offer for India is no longer listed as active.

Free Google AI pro with jio (18 Months): best for google users

The​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Offer: If you are a Jio user aged 18 or above on an Unlimited 5G plan of ₹349 or more (prepaid or postpaid), you can claim 18 months of Google AI Pro free. The value is ₹35,100. The offer launched for ages 18–25 and has since been opened to all adults. You claim it in the MyJio app using your Gmail ID, once per mobile number. Who​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Should Choose This: Students, online content producers, advertisers, and working people. Mostly those who are already deeply integrating Google services in their work or personal life. And if you’re short on storage(iPhone users XD) this one’s for you.

The Catch: You need a Jio SIM on an active Unlimited 5G plan of ₹349 or above, and you must keep it active for all 18 months to keep the benefits. It’s one claim per mobile number, and Jio calls it a limited-time offer, so claim early. Non-Jio users would need to get a new Jio SIM. In case you are not a daily user of Google products, most of the features will remain ​‍​‌‍​‍‌unutilized in my opinion. But it’s free, so if you’re in the age group and have a 5G plan just go for it.

Airtel-Perplexity Pro (offer ended): best for research

Update: This offer ended on 16 January 2026 and new claims are no longer possible. If you already claimed it, check the Airtel Thanks app for your remaining access.

The​‍​‌‍​‍‌ Offer: A free one-year subscription to Perplexity Pro was available to all Airtel customers (mobile, Wi-Fi, DTH, broadband). Total value of the same is Rs. 17,000 approximately.

• A very comprehensive research engine with up-to-the-minute sources(my favorite thing about the offer as in my opinion perplexity is the best for research and online web search)
• Much higher daily Pro search limits than the free plan.
• Creation of images and uploading of documents for further work
• Perplexity Labs for brainstorming and project workflows

Who It Was Best For: Students doing homework, researchers, business analysts, content creators. Actually, you can’t really categorize, anyone who needs verified facts along with sources that’s literally everyone in this world. By simply switching from one AI model to another, you have the freedom that is not available in other AI subscriptions.

The Catch: The offer is now closed. Redemption also required an active Airtel connection and a credit card, though you weren’t charged during the promo.Furthermore, I’ve heard a lot of people actually have faced issues to just activate perplexity pro. If you already claimed it, your free 12 months continue until they run out. Go is now available in every country ChatGPT supports, so check chatgpt.com/pricing for today’s price.

What You Get:

• Access to OpenAI’s lighter Go model (GPT-6 Luna as of October 2026), not the top Sol model
• Unlimited everyday text chats and higher limits than Free for images, file uploads and data analysis (my favorite part of the offer)
• Support for Hindi and other Indian languages
• Advanced data analysis (Python) and file uploads
• Custom GPTs and plugins for specialized workflows” (OpenAI has announced plans to retire custom GPTs and migrate them to plugins, so don’t call it a “game changer”)
• Projects feature for organizing ongoing work
• Longer memory for more personalised conversations

Who Should Choose This: Anyone, regardless of SIM or operator. It’s now a paid plan, but still the easiest to learn. This is the easiest learning curve of all three AI subscriptions.

The Catch: Go is the most limited of the three. File storage is capped at 4 GB (versus Jio’s 5TB) and the top GPT model isn’t included. The free India offer has also ended. Billing is monthly and you can cancel anytime.
