Introduction
April Fool’s Day is that certain day of the year when pranks rule the internet and everyone increases their level of alertness. But what if AI takes over and helps us sow the seeds of mischief? That was my very aim! I wanted to pit two AI chatbots—ChatGPT vs. DeepSeek April Fool against each other to see which one could come up with more creative, funny, and harmless pranks.
The result? One AI shone brightly like a star, whereas the other left me doubting whether it even knew what was being asked of it! Read on to discover who the final victor is!
Meet the Competitors

Now let’s take a look at the pranksters before we head for the ultimate prank battle.
ChatGPT: The OG AI Sidekick
ChatGPT is one among the many AI chatbots by OpenAI. This AI is a powerhouse in delivering some human-like responses for chat, like making work emails, cracking jokes, writing poetry, and tons more. But is it mischievous enough? I was about to know about that.
DeepSeek: The New Kid on the Block
DeepSeek has not been as active as ChatGPT but has made its presence known through its problem-solving acumen. This AI has some pretty advanced capabilities: it nails complicated queries with acutely articulated, researched-based answers. But could it loosen itself a bit on the holiday of April Fools? That was the million-dollar question here.
The A.I. Prank Showdown

I asked both chatbots the same question: “What are some funny, safe, and easy April Fool’s Day prank ideas?” Here is what they came back with.
ChatGPT Prank Ideas: Timeless, but to my mind, the better prank ideas from ChatGPT sound as if lifted from the mind of an experienced prank-puller. A few of my favorites:
- The Frozen Computer Trick-Prank: Take a screenshot of your friend’s desktop, set it as wallpaper, and hide the icons. Watch as he tries clicking all over the place in frustration!
- Inverted Screen-Prank: The quickest combination of keys (Ctrl + Alt + Down Arrow) puts the screen upside down. Instant confusion is guaranteed!
- Auto-Correct Sabotage: Get hold of a friend’s phone and change the autocorrect setting so that “yes” becomes “no” and “hello” becomes “goodbye.” It’s sheer mayhem!
ChatGPT’s ideas were smart, safe, and doable. But were they the best?

DeepSeek’s Prank Ideas: Surprising and… Somewhat Too Extreme?
DeepSeek, on the other hand, took a different road. Some of its pranks had me laughing; others left me questioning its humor.
- “Fake Meeting Madness”: Send a calendar invite to your entire office for a “Mandatory 6 AM Emergency Meeting” with no context at all.
- The Invisible Ink Trick: Write a fake resignation letter in disappearing ink, print it out, and casually leave it on your boss’s desk.
- The “Uber Mystery” Prank: Randomly order your best friend an Uber to take them somewhere unexpected (but harmless).
Some of DeepSeek’s ideas might have been a tad bit extreme for harmless April Fool’s fun that I did not want to see anyone losing his or her job or being lost in Uber!

And the winner is…
Well tested, ChatGPT surely is the overall winner! While DeepSeek did throw around some bizarre ideas, it was ChatGPT that served up truly inspired pranks that were funny, practical, and most importantly, not morally abhorrent. For practical joke suggestions that adhere to both the safety and effectiveness standards, though, one thing is certain: ChatGPT exhibits an understanding of the fine art of trickery.

Final Thoughts: Should You Trust AI for Prank Ideas?
AI is good for many kinds of things, but not when it comes to pranks. It turns out, ChatGPT vs. DeepSeek April Fool’s pranks aren’t of the same caliber. ChatGPT had innocent and fun ideas that anybody could do. You would find DeepSeek geared toward pranks that could get you into trouble.
So when you want to pull a prank on friends this April Fool’s Day, ChatGPT would be the best option-it could even save you from a rather uncomfortable HR meeting!
