    Google is getting ready for its biggest developer event of the year, known as Google I/O 2025. This event will be taking place on the May 20th and 21st. As always, you can expect deep conversations on new tech, shiny demos of new products and of couse a whole lot of AI. This time, it features live coverage of the newest developments in Gemini AI. All taking place at the legendary Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View. Moreover, DeepMind’s CEO Demis Hassabi will be joining CEO Sundar Pichai. Both of them will be headlining this much-awaited event, along with top executives who oversee major units like Android, Search, Cloud, and other vital parts of the company. In short, you can expect a series of announcements, updates on products and a vibe that screams “AI will change everything” energy.

    New Gemini AI gets a makeover

    Gemini is Google’s major flex in the AI race and is expected to dominate the stage and headline most keynotes. It’s their bold answer and competition to OpenAI, xAI, Anthropic and other big players in the space. They’re not showing up to play nice. This time, Gemini AI isn’t just a chatbot it might also get multimodal updates, more integrated product features and expanded developer tools. Meanwhile, DeepMind’s Project Astra will also return to the spotlight after its teaser last year featuring futuristic smart glasses. That looked like something straight out of a startup fever dream. The wearable tech battle is heating up especially now that Meta’s voice-controlled smart glasses are already out in the wild. So, we’ll see who steals the crown for the next big wearable.

    Gemini AI and Project Astra are just the headline acts. The real plot twist? AI creeping into literally everything Google makes. Google Search will receive its biggest upgrade in years, powered by generative AI. Elizabeth Reid, Head of Search, will break it down on the AI Stage. Additionally, the AI agents are being designed to run apps for you, they will complete tasks, and possibly serve as your new virtual assistant. On top of that, even scientists are using AI to fast-track everything from drug discovery to climate research. Waymo’s cars continue flexing their no-human-needed navigation powered by…you guessed it more AI.
